Jessica Dana from Apex Indoor Karting in Tuwater, WA has been named May Driver of the Month, Dana recently won the Jeff Gordan Foundation Ultimate Speed race at Victory Lane Indoor in Charlotte, NC.
Below is a little history on Dana :
Jessica started in Karts in August of 2009, she competed in the Fall Series ACS championship at Apex Karting her Indoor home track and placed 3rd overall in the light class in fall of 2009 and competed at the Nationals in AZ in November whereby she logged 1 top 5 and 3 top 10 finishes and often turned top 5 in fast laps.
Jess is the number 1 ranked driver at Apex Karting, Track Record holder forward and reverse at Apex “Old track” . Jess began her out door karting at Pacific Grand Prix on its .83 mile outdoor track where she quickly became on the of top drivers.
Jess is now competing in the Spring series competition at Pacific Grand Prix (PGP) and is currently 2nd in the points standings with the Championship race this Saturday.
Jess was drawn from about 600 to race Travis Pastrana April 22, 2010 at PGP and amazed a crowd of nearly 1000 when she set fast lap and won the race that included Travis, Dave Mirra and other professional drivers.
Jess has her own TAG Kart, Rotex and raced it for the first time about 4 weeks ago. No practice no laps prior to the event and a crew chief who did not know how to change a tire! (her Dad) Jess qualified 15th and in the final worked her way from the back of the pack all the way to 9th when her chain broke and she was out of the race. Her lap times were only 1 – 1.5 seconds of the race leaders.
She also won the ACS Championship Winter series 200 class and got 2nd place in the 150 class by 2 points at Apex Indoor Karting.
