 Racers from Across the United States Entered for 24 Hours of Charlotte
Racers from at least nine states have placed entries in the fourth-annual 24 Hours of Charlotte at Victory Lane, the longest and most grueling indoor karting event in the United States. The 24 Hour race, sponsored by NOS Energy Drink and HICG Motorsports Insurance, will take the green flag with a LeMans-style start at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte, NC.
Among the 15 teams that will compete are last year’s winners, Carolina Car Care (known as “SIRS” in 2010) and Endurance Karting, 2009 champions of the 24 Hours and winners of the 12 Hours of Victory Lane in December, 2010. The defending championship team features drivers from the North Carolina area, while drivers from California, Florida, Georgia, New York, Oregon Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Texas have also submitted entries, creating the deepest and most competitive field in the history of the race.
Teams will race in equally prepared Sodi RX7 karts with 270cc Honda engines on the approximately 1/3-mile Victory Lane indoor course. Each team will include between four and eight drivers who will share driving duties for the twice-around-the-clock event. Each driver must complete at least two hours (but no more than 10 hours) of driving time.
